Celebrating the Impact of Mentorship with Endeavor Egypt

Endeavor Egypt hosted its Annual Mentor Awards ceremony on December 4th, 2017 at the Cairo Capital Club bringing together over 100 members of the Endeavor network’s High-Impact Entrepreneurs, Mentors and ecosystem

partners in honor and celebration of Endeavor Mentors’ contribution to Endeavor Entrepreneurs and to the wider ecosystem.

At the event, Transcendium Founder and Executive Partner Alaa Hashim was named Mentor of the Year 2017 for his exceptional contribution to the Endeavor community and entrepreneurial ecosystem at large. The Distinguished Mentor of the Year awards went to ten Mentors who dedicated the most time, expertise and guidance to Endeavor Egypt’s network of High-Impact Entrepreneurs during the year. Endeavor Mentors Khaled Bichara (Orascom), Emad Barsoum (Ezdehar) and Tarek Mansour (Pwc), were especially recognized for their Ten Year commitment to Mentorship with Endeavor Egypt. Furthermore, in recognition of their support to Fellow entrepreneurs, eight of Endeavor Egypt Entrepreneurs were awarded the Mentorship Capital Award owing to their active re-investment in Egypt’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by giving back and helping other entrepreneurs through Mentorship.

Held at Cairo Capital Club, the Mentor Awards opened with a keynote talk by Endeavor Egypt Chairman Ayman Ismail, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of DMG Group, who highlighted the integral role Mentors play in helping entrepreneurs think bigger, make better decisions and multiply their impact.

“Endeavor Mentors are founders, CEOs, business leaders, investors, academics who donate their time, expertise, and guidance to help Entrepreneurs in their scale-up journey and with their business challenges,” Ismail said. “Mentors are ecosystem role models, promoting a culture of giving-back and mentorship. We’re very happy to dedicate this evening to the valuable contributions of Endeavor Mentors,” he added.
Allen Taylor, Managing Director of Endeavor’s co-investment fund Endeavor Catalyst, followed on stressing the vitality of Entrepreneurs’ giving back and paying-it- forward for a flourishing entrepreneurial ecosystem and widened impact on the local economy.

Over 70+ business leaders are part of Endeavor Egypt Mentor Network, having donated 600+ hours of mentoring to Endeavor Entrepreneurs and candidates in 2016-2017. Endeavor Egypt Mentors are part of the 3,000 business leader global Endeavor Mentor community spread across 30+ markets, and supporting the advancement of Endeavor’s mission around the world.

“As Endeavor enters its tenth year in Egypt next year, we are proud of all the impact made by our network of Entrepreneurs creating over six thousand jobs and collectively generating two billion Egyptian Pounds in revenues, tangibly contributing to wealth and job creation in the Egyptian economy,” said Mohamed Rahmy, Managing Director of Endeavor Egypt. “We couldn’t have done this without the on-going support and commitment from our Mentors over the years,” Rahmy added.
